Reader Q&A
Why do you think so many people raise families in Park Slope?
“It’s a family environment. You’ve got great transportation, schools, museums, libraries, the park, and the botanical gardens. It’s an area that is extremely diverse. You live in this area, you know the world!”- Fred DeLeon
“It’s a vibrant community and there are tons of kids in the neighborhood. There’s the beautiful park and museums. There’s a lot going on around here.”- Liz Howell
“Because they are not willing to give up some of the conveniences of New York City, but want some things that are conducive to family life, like the park.”- Sarah Rivkin with Toby
“It’s a very good area. They have very good schools. The neighborhood is basically crime-free. I have been a nanny to this family for three years, and nothing has happened. If I had the choice, I’d do the same for my kids.”- Maureen
“The closeness of the park and the amount of activities available for parents.”- Margaret
“Because there are big houses here! There are so many kids’ stores and the co-op where parents can buy cheap and healthy food for their kids. I don’t know which came first, the neighborhood or the kids. If I had kids, I would raise them here.”- Solomon Dorsey
